Managament Information Systems manager = Worst job ever
Management Information Systems (MIS) manager delivers data to management and supports their decisions. Actually, MIS manager represents all production systems and their processes. Furthermore, as their respective representative delivers quality data.
In reality, achieving extraordinary and high data quality for management is pure utopia. It is hard to keep good and reliable data quality because many factors not under direct jurisdiction influence data quality. Methodology, data quality management, products data management, inadequate data flow, bi systems interfaces, implementation of new systems, non transparent process and etc. It is a boiling pot of stew. Only thing what is constant is permanent change.
All dirt from company is presented through MIS manager. Working with Information Systems sounds great but considering far from perfect environment that cannot be excluded from Management Information Systems it is a job working dealing mostly with poor data quality due to previously mentioned reasons. Dealing with poor data quality to say it in English means to analyze why company has data inconsistencies, where problems are and what are the reasons. This is 90% of MIS manager job.
“Kill the messanger of bad news.” Angry king
Instead of bad news, low data quality are delivered. Guess who is the messanger?
It is the worst job ever.
