Participation in WAR
Does who did not participate will be little bit puzzled but war and business logic have something very in common.
When I was in war in Croatia and on the front line with enemy I’ve spotted something weird. Psychology of civilians and warriors in front of enemy was much different then those who were 150 km
away from enemy line. On front we knew where enemy was and what was going on. Situation was under control. Behind front lines people developed irrational fear and tended to override stories that came from front line. More fear was behind of line then on line where battle actually is.
Here is analogy with business intelligence and management reporting. Those who report are under stress, they are far behind line where “war with coding” happens. They are mostly economic experts and they suffer from irrational fear and stress. Closer to coding and process points of actions enemy is known to IT but not to management data stewards.
Vice versa is for understanding of management point of view, it is known to those who report but causes irrational fear in IT. IT does not know what is happening on decision level battle.
