Revenge of Angry Data – Information Overload

Business Intelligence (BI) solutions were invented to ease data gathering and publishing, to help with information interpretation. With implementation of business intelligence solution this process really happens. Users get much easier reports, information flow is much faster.

After a while, users generate more and more different reports and data. BI users are creating information avalanche, and very often this avalanche is information overload with not so much necessary data. At the end BI solutions are cluttered with information overload, and main benefits of Business Intelligence are lost in mass of beneficial information. Remember, BI was introduced mainly to reduce information clutter.

Interpretation of data is becoming next huge problem, and business intelligence solutions can not solve it because they are not designed for information cluttering problems. They were designed to present data, not to solve cluttering.
