What kind of Business Intelligence skills are good to have?
Beside technical knowledge / skills there are several skills that are worthy to have in order to model solid and lasting business intelligence model.
First of all skills is definitely communication skill. Being extroversive and building social relationships is important. There are so many hidden
information in BI world and with communication many solutions could be found.
Next is to have a dose of psychology skills to recognize different types of behavior and especially what are the causes of such behavior. Is it due to stress, lack of knowledge, ambition, wrong information interpretation and similar. All depends also on position within organization.
Third and not less important is to understand how management thinks and especially how decision making functions. It is crucial how and based on what beside intuition decisions are made, understanding making strategic and tactical decisions.
Last one is interdisciplinary skill. It is good to combine creative solutions from different business areas. With combination of different functionalities, processes and knowledge only the sky is the limit in creating reports with value add.
