Akiro Kurosawa’s Rashomon In Information Systems
There are many stories about same solution. All depends from the point of view.
If you ask…
… a programmer: “Well, system was done in wrong way with to little features. It all could have be done much better.”
… a data steward:” It is now worse then before, and I have less than before. There is more mapping to do.”
… a manager responsible for system:”It is a great solution making processes and decision making – piece of cake.”
… a consultants that worked on project:”It is a profitable state of the art solution. It is savvy and powerful too.”
… an opposition manager:”It is a joke.”
… the top management:”It is our business value builder.”
And so on and so on.
Marks of the same Information System (Management Information System, Information Reporting System, etc.) can be from A to F. Ain’t this little bit weird?
If it is working and providing functions that were not possible before vs. amount of manual fix days and old functions that were replaced… this is I believe fair criteria for fair mark of Information System.
