When Managers Fight
When two or more managers fight then two worlds collide and there is a lot of collateral damage. When managers confront then employees serve like raw meet in the fight. They have to find mistakes of confronted group, even from long time ago. Only thing that is important is how to fight with other department and to discover mistakes of colleagues with whom we have to usually work.
Life is not easy between two or more fires… You have to give ammunition to your boss, but it has to be clever ammunition without too much damage for possible future cooperation with others. This ammunition needs to be very clever, to make noise and dust but not too hurt anybody… argh?!
Translate fight into Information Systems, and that means to make negative campaign of others work, especially if somebody is the owner of certain application. Then you can expect any kind of negative comments like application is disaster, nothing works, and processes were better before and similar. Off course there is no application that works perfectly, but what is highlighted during the fight is that it should be perfect with all features having in mind not only in specifications. Total exaggeration is happening.
You simply cannot make freaking detailed documentation in advance without seeing later there should be something changed, because company does not have fixed envirnoment and processes. This changes are the reason why there is a huge stock of ammunition at the disposal for any manager ready to fight.
When managers fight it is a vast of company energy and of resources. There is no work on company business value but there is much more in preparing materials for manager fight with others, lot of paper work, lot of documentation analysis and similar. To conclude, there is a lot of work on history, but not on progress.
