Undercover Big Business Intelligence Projects

Entering through small doors

Big Business Intelligence projects can be unrecognized in organization in manner of information implantation. If model star scheme is very complex then any change is dramatic and can destroy reporting logic. So, something that seams small is actually big information project for implementation since Information Systems are not prepared and its relations are quite complex.

Business tries to push change but reporting and data warehouse process members recognize it as huge project. Since many things pretty much depend on people if change initiator cannot push project, project will be soon on hold – in a limb, somewhere and nowhere. There is no dedicated project leader to push the change.

What happens next, business will forget intentionally or due to other reasons what needs to be done… Soon derivates (small kids) of big project that needs to be done will knock on the door of reporting members for implementation. Those kids are not as big as their first initial project but they are small and they cannot be realized without first big push. This means that huge project is trying to enter through small doors.

And business will push as hard as it can in wrong way… Unfortunately.
