Data Warehouse as Process Shock Absorber

If you are skillful in getting complex things done, you’ll get new ones. Ones that do not need to have any relation with your related job description in business intelligence industry. You can get pure marketing jobs or to be more precise product development.

Business analysts and architects serve like shock absorbers for new ad hoc processes or processes that no one wants to handle. If your political power is low for distracting of getting new jobs you’ll get bunch of process crap that nobody wants.

One of them is when users do not understand what they report and therefore report (copy/paste) everything. They will not say that they did not understand what have they reported but they will rather say that nobody prepared KPI’s definitions through system. Logical choice is to them is to plunge non financial KPI definition process t others and best is to DWH experts who prepare data for them. Reporters will not contact for opinion and for definition those that created products but they will make huge noise about how they were mislead by others.
