Worthy Temporary Local Applications Made in Excel and Access

Do you appreciate ”hand- made” – local applications that jump into Information Systems gaps and support processes? They are made within month/months mostly with MS Access and/or Excel (with VBA) and they greatly ease job to administrators, decision makers or even business analysts. They can be made very quickly but cannot be replaced with professional applications and included in company Information Systems for many months.

Trigger to replace them is usually when process using named Access or Excel solutions becomes to important and to risky to relay only on them. This is moment of ugly truth; it is moment of realization of how those ”local guru” made applications were worthy. You can see that especially in case when you see price for applicative solution offer from vendor or own IT. ”Local solutions” are so precious when they are gone but neglected during operative life…
